Cull totals per annum for the GCU DMG average over 120 stags and around 90 calves and hinds.
A helicopter count of the Group area was conducted in Spring 2017. This showed there to be a current population of 366 stags, 700 hinds and 303 calves giving an overall density of 3.2 deer per km2.
The Group members carry out Habitat Monitoring to assess the impacts of deer on their natural habitat. The information from these Assessments helps to inform the ongoing management of the Group.
